I am such a friendly pup but I don’t know why other animals don’t want to play with me.
Take cats, for example. Some just stare at me with a pathetic look on their face as I run and jump towards them. Others snarl and spit – which I thought at first was their way of playing, until one of them nearly caught me with its vicious claws. So now I keep a safe distance, but I still bark and run after them – it’s such good fun to see them run away!
A few days ago I met a tortoise in the woods. I was merrily sniffing around on the ground – so many interesting and unusual smells about – and I didn’t see him at first. I thought it was just a small rock in the undergrowth. I carried on sniffing, thinking ‘that’s a weird smell’ when suddenly it popped its scaly head and out started moving. It gave me such a fright I jumped back half a metre and almost out of my skin!
Now I know he’s there, I often go to visit and bark at him – but he’s not interested in playing with me either.
I’m such a friendly guy, I really don’t understand it….
