Training or Torture..?

Being taught self-discipline is one thing – being tortured is another.
So this is what happens:
New mum places a tasty, crunchy, savoury, smelly tortilla chip on the floor – right in front of me – and then says the two most horrible words in the world: LEAVE IT!
I get it – OK? I leave it. I don’t touch it. I don’t touch it even though I can smell it. I just sit there and look at it – just in case it was to move or disappear when I wasn’t looking.
I wait….
I wait…. I wait more… and more….
Two hours later (probably two minutes but feels like hours) she says: FETCH IT!
And I jump on it and devour the chip.
Then we do it all over again. Sure seems like torture to me…!
15 Weeks old and I’ve more than doubled my weight in the last 2 weeks to 12.2Kg. Must be all those chips I’ve been eating….
Previous Confession Time – I’m really a GIRL! Next I’ve Been Rumbled!

You are gaining a great skill, Carlie. Some people don’t have the patience you’ve got!

Thank you. So maybe I am overdoing the patience then…? Hmmn… I will have to rethink that.

I have a tip for you, kid. Instead of looking at the chip, look away. That way, if you have the attention span of a goldfish like I have, you can almost forget it’s there until you are given permission to eat it. Humans think up these ridiculous forms of torture all the time! I think it makes them feel that they are in charge…

Hey, Paddy! Thanks for the tip. I’ve seen new mum reading stuff on the internet about Top Dog, which I think she wants to be. But she doesn’t look anything like a dog, so that’s really strange… Humans are just weird!
